Day 1: Arusha to Momella Gate – Miriakamba Hut

Activities:
Begin your journey with a drive from Arusha to Momella Gate in Arusha National Park. The trek starts through lush forest trails, offering chances to spot wildlife such as giraffes, colobus monkeys, and buffalo. Arrive at Miriakamba Hut for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 2: Miriakamba Hut to Saddle Hut
Altitude: 2,514m (8,250 ft) to 3,570m (11,712 ft)
Distance: 8 km (5 miles)
Approx. Time: 3-5 hours
Activities:
Hike through the montane forest and heather zones, with stunning views of Mount Kilimanjaro and the surrounding landscapes. Reach Saddle Hut in the afternoon. Optional hike to Little Meru (3,820m/12,533 ft) for acclimatization and panoramic sunset views. Overnight at Saddle Hut.
Day 3: Saddle Hut to Socialist Peak to Miriakamba Hut
Altitude: 3,570m (11,712 ft) to 4,562m (14,968 ft), then down to 2,514m (8,250 ft)
Distance: ~18 km (11 miles) round trip
Approx. Time: 10-12 hours (summit and descent)
Activities:
Start the summit trek at midnight, navigating rocky trails under a starlit sky. Reach Socialist Peak at sunrise for breathtaking views of Mount Kilimanjaro, the Rift Valley, and beyond. Descend to Saddle Hut for a short rest before continuing down to Miriakamba Hut for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 4: Miriakamba Hut to Momella Gate – Return to Arusha
Altitude: 2,514m (8,250 ft) to 1,500m (4,921 ft)
Distance: 10 km (6 miles)
Approx. Time: 3-4 hours
Activities:
Enjoy a leisurely descent through the forest, retracing your steps to Momella Gate. Transfer back to Arusha, where you can relax and celebrate your successful Mount Meru trek.
