Tour Overview

The 9-day Lemosho Route is an extended version designed for optimal acclimatization, increasing the chances of summit success. Starting on the western side of Mount Kilimanjaro, it offers trekkers breathtaking scenery through rainforests, moorlands, alpine deserts, and glaciers. The longer itinerary allows for a more relaxed pace and an unforgettable journey to Uhuru Peak.

Arrival At Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO)

Activities:
Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, Bee Adventure Safari staff will greet you and transfer you to your hotel in Arusha or Moshi. Take the evening to relax, meet your guide for a pre-trek briefing, and ensure your gear is ready. Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay.

Activities:
After registration at Londorossi Gate, begin trekking through lush rainforest, home to colobus monkeys and diverse bird species. The trail ascends gently, providing an introduction to Kilimanjaro’s natural beauty. Arrive at Mti Mkubwa Camp for dinner and your first night on the mountain.

Activities:
Exit the rainforest and traverse the Shira Ridge, entering the moorland zone. Take in the stunning views of Mount Meru and the expansive Shira Plateau. The landscape transitions to heathers and rocky terrain as you approach Shira 1 Camp.

Activities:
Take a leisurely trek across the scenic Shira Plateau, one of the largest high-altitude plateaus in the world. Enjoy panoramic views of Kibo Peak and Mount Meru. This is a vital day for acclimatization as you reach Shira 2 Camp.

Approx. Time: 4-5 hours

Activities:
Ascend further across the plateau toward Moir Hut, located near the base of the Lent Hills. This quieter campsite offers an optional acclimatization hike in the afternoon, enhancing your chances of success on the summit.

Altitude: 4,200m (13,779 ft) to 4,630m (15,190 ft), then down to 3,950m (12,959 ft)
Distance: ~10 km (6.2 miles)
Approx. Time: 6-8 hours

Activities:
Trek to the iconic Lava Tower for incredible views and critical acclimatization at 4,630m. After lunch, descend to Barranco Camp, passing through valleys filled with giant groundsels and other unique flora. Rest under the imposing Barranco Wall for the night.

Distance: ~6 km (3.7 miles)
Approx. Time: 4-5 hours

Activities:
Start the day with a thrilling ascent of the Barranco Wall, a non-technical climb with rewarding views. Continue through rolling ridges and valleys to Karanga Camp, where you’ll rest and prepare for higher altitudes.

Distance: ~4 km (2.5 miles)
Approx. Time: 3-4 hours

Activities:
A short yet steep hike brings you to Barafu Camp, the base for your summit attempt. Rest in the afternoon while soaking in views of the summit and Mawenzi Peak. Prepare your gear for the midnight push to Uhuru Peak.

Altitude: 4,640m (15,223 ft) to 5,895m (19,341 ft), then down to 3,080m (10,105 ft)
Distance: ~17 km (10.6 miles)
Approx. Time: 12-14 hours

Activities:
Start your summit trek around midnight, climbing through scree to Stella Point. Witness an unforgettable sunrise before continuing to Uhuru Peak, Africa’s highest point. Celebrate your achievement before descending to Barafu for a short rest, then continue to Mweka Camp.

Distance: ~10 km (6.2 miles)
Approx. Time: 3-4 hours

Activities:
Enjoy your final descent through lush rainforest to Mweka Gate, where you’ll receive your summit certificates. A transfer will take you back to Arusha or Moshi, where you can celebrate and relax after your incredible adventure.
