Arrival At Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO)

Activities:
Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, Bee Adventure Safari representatives will welcome you and transfer you to your accommodation in either Arusha or Moshi. Take the rest of the day to relax, have a briefing about the trek, check your gear, and enjoy a hearty meal in preparation for the adventure ahead.

Distance: ~8 km (5 miles)
Approx. Time: 4-5 hours

Activities:
Your trek begins at the Marangu Gate, where you will complete the necessary registration. The trail winds through lush rainforest, home to exotic flora and fauna. Keep an eye out for monkeys and birds as you ascend to Mandara Hut, where you’ll settle in for the night, enjoying the peaceful surroundings of the forest.

Altitude: 2,700m (8,858 ft) to 3,720m (12,204 ft)
Distance: ~12 km (7.5 miles)
Approx. Time: 6-7 hours

Activities:
Continue your journey through the moorland zone, where the forest thins out, and spectacular views begin to open up. Enjoy lunch at a scenic spot along the way before reaching Horombo Hut. The expansive view of Mount Kilimanjaro’s peak is visible from here, and this is a good spot to rest and acclimatize.

Distance: ~5 km (3.1 miles)
Approx. Time: 3-4 hours

Activities:
Take the day to acclimatize to the higher altitudes, which is crucial for your summit attempt. Trek to the “Zebra Rocks,” which are located above Horombo Hut, for additional acclimatization. Return to Horombo Hut in the afternoon for rest and hydration. This day will help your body adjust and improve your chances of success in reaching the summit.

Altitude: 3,720m (12,204 ft) to 4,700m (15,420 ft)
Distance: ~10 km (6.2 miles)
Approx. Time: 6-7 hours

Activities:
Continue your ascent as you enter the alpine desert zone, where the landscape becomes more barren and rocky. The trek to Kibo Hut is challenging but rewarding, with excellent views of the summit. Upon arrival, relax, hydrate, and prepare for the midnight summit attempt. This is the last stop before the final push to Uhuru Peak.

Altitude: 4,700m (15,420 ft) to 5,895m (19,341 ft), then back to 3,720m (12,204 ft)
Distance: ~21 km (13 miles)
Approx. Time: 12-14 hours

Activities:
Begin your summit attempt around midnight, trekking through the freezing temperatures and the steep terrain of the summit night. After a grueling climb, you will reach Gilman’s Point at sunrise, followed by Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. Celebrate your achievement before descending back to Kibo Hut for a short break. Continue descending to Horombo Hut for a restful evening after the exhausting day.

Activities:
The final leg of the trek takes you down through the lush rainforest to Marangu Gate. Enjoy the forest scenery as you descend and reflect on your incredible journey. Upon arrival at the gate, you will receive your summit certificate. Afterward, a transfer will take you back to your hotel in Arusha or Moshi for a celebration of your achievement.
